The Inquiry held a preliminary hearing on 20 June 2013 (to view the transcript from the preliminary hearing please follow this link) and a second preliminary hearing on 23 July 2013 (to view the transcript from the second preliminary hearing please follow this link) during which procedural issues and administrative matters were finalised and case management directions given.
The main hearing of the Inquiry took place in the Gibraltar Coroner’s Court for 17 days in the period 30 September 2013 – 24 October 2013. 63 witnesses gave live evidence.
The Inquiry renewed its sittings on 10 and 11 December 2013 to enable Counsel to make closing submissions to the Inquiry.
It is not intended that there will be any further hearing(s).
Given that the evidential hearings have concluded and closing submissions have been made the Inquiry Chairman has now retired to prepare a draft of his Report. He indicated at the conclusion of closing submissions that this is expected to be a lengthy process in light of the vast amount of documentary evidence, witness statements and submissions that were before the Inquiry. Further announcements will be made in due course.
